Privacy on this Robot Rage server

This is an unofficial fan server for Robot Rage 2: Rearmed, run by Andrew for the Robot Rage Discord. It isn't connected to Miniclip or Raketspel. Here is everything it keeps about you, in plain words.

What's stored

• The email address you log in with, and your password. The password is stored only as a scrypt hash, so nobody (including Andrew) can read it back.
• Your robots: their names, parts, paint jobs, money, wins, losses and scores.
• A random session id while you're logged in. It expires after 30 days without use.

Other players see your robots, their scores and the part of your login before the @, as the original game showed it. Lobby chat passes through the server but isn't saved.

Your browser remembers the email you last logged in with and your game settings. That stays on your computer.

Server logs

The server's logs record what happens (logins, saves, matches, errors) with the IP address it came from, to keep the server running and to stop abuse. They never contain passwords. Logs are deleted after 14 days. The server also keeps counters per IP address in memory to slow down password guessing and floods, which it forgets when it restarts. If an address is banned, it's kept until the ban ends.

The server is reached through Cloudflare, which carries the connection and so also sees your IP address.

Direct matches show your IP address to your opponent

To keep matches smooth, the two players' browsers connect to each other directly (WebRTC) when they can. That means your opponent's browser learns your IP address, and yours learns theirs. Finding the direct route also asks a public STUN server (Google's) for your address.

If you'd rather not, play relay-only: open the game with ?p2p=relay at the end of its address (for example https://<this server>/?p2p=relay; bookmark it). Every match then goes through this server, and your opponent never sees your address. It can add a little delay.

What's not done

Nothing is sold or shared with anyone. No emails are sent: your email address is only your login name. There are no ads and no trackers.

Deleting your account

Ask Andrew on the Robot Rage Discord and your account and robots will be deleted.
